The Build Part IV : New look for Kyojin

I was not willing to do any upgrades on the looks of my GT86 but got a super cheap deal for Rocket Bunny Kit ( 8 pieces ) for front and back fenders to make it wider so decided to buy it and use it .

Here are the images for the parts bought yesterday 20th of July 2015 .

The parts shows the front and back Rocket Bunny side fenders that will give the car a wide body look. Excited to install these on my car.

Final Shape of the car will be posted here . but it should look like something like this

The Build Part III : Getting it ready

It is time to put all of these together but first let us strip the car down ;)

- We say goodbye to the old engine

Car been in the garage for two weeks to make all the parts ready and do the wire mapping for it before stripping it down!

Photo for the engine before completing the swap
Goodbye FA20

- The front bumper is out now and for those who did it by themselves they would know how hard it is to do it .

Front face is all removed ( Lights , Intercooler , bumper ) it hurts so much to see such thing :'( but the coming will be better

Car is on the Jack and NO ENGINE IS INSIDE !!! Wohoo completed the removal of the engine

This is the setup as of 15th of July 2015
Waiting for 1JZ mounting kit as the one we brought earlier was not for the GT86/FRS and along with that we will have the Hydraulic Handbrake too :)

Will complete the setup next week when parts comes

The Build Part II : The Parts

So... 1JZ to be installed on the Toyota 86! Hmmm went through a lot of forum and very famous ones too but all seem to trash you if you don't know what you are doing! well no one was born with a screwdriver in his hand ... that's why we learn and do mistakes.

In my buildup I will do mistakes ( hopefully not ) , put money to waste if I did not read a lot about what is going on and what to do.

To start of with the parts, we will start with the engine :

1. Toyota 1JZ GTE 2.5 Twin Turbo engine

The engine was modified to work on a single turbocharger.

2. T-70 TurboCharger

3. R154 5-Speeds Manual Transmission

4. Exedy Stage 4 dual clutch

5. Greddy Intercooler

6. Tomei 2 Way LSD

7. S-Blade Fans

8. KSport Slide Kontrol Drift Coilovers

9. Brembo Brakes :
- 4 Pistons brakes ( Front ) , 2 Pistons brakes ( Rear )

10 . DriftWorks Hydraulic Handbrake with Wilwood master cylinder

11. Enjuku Racing Mounting Kit for 1Jz

12. Tubrosmart Comp Gate 40

13. AEM series 2 computer

List is up to date (19 Jan 2016 )
Other parts will be listed below once they arrive

The Build Part I : Why to Swap ?

As I have tested the car in stock mode to drift in it, things were not good enough so had to test what is happening in the car and what need to be adjusted

So Installed 16 inch tires on the back and filled them with air to reach 55 while, while the front tires were 17 inch with 32 air pressure level for more grib.
The car grib was not good enough although it was sliding perfectly on 1st gear but once you go 2nd gear the car loses power due to the automatic throttle control which has to be adjusted by tuning the car to make it more powerful.
The OEM e-brake was good but not good enough for drifting, so hydralic handbrake was a must and it is essential for drifters. Another this was the car's handling was not as good as it should, adjusting the suspension system is a must so you would lower the car more and get a good grip while making turns or throwing the car's weight when making a transition in drifting.

The car needed power , suspension system , lightweight set of rims , torque , handbrake. and a lot more.

Then I decided to upgrade the car and get a new engine to reach the power needed to make the car slide freely.

The choice was a 1JZ GTE engine modified to a single turbo (Why? )

So many reasons for the why part which can be explained in several points:

1. I got a good deal on the engine with the transmission along with other parts which I will mention
2. Having a Turbo on the boxer engine is good but the power of the boxer engine is limited and might not reach the level you want plus spending will be much more in terms of parts . yet you are limited with power ( max 450whp ) with its current transmission
3. Why not a 2JZ engine ? Because I'm still a beginner at this point ( date of issuing this write up ) so I don't want more than 400-500whp at this moment ... if later on i became professional drifter I can simply swap the engine and keep the rest of the parts

in the next part will mention all the parts were used to do the build up and still currently upgrading it.

THE START

WHAT IS KYOJIN?

KYOJIN:  which means 'Titan'; is the name I called my Toyota 86 with ... name was derived from the japanese anime series " Shingeki no Kyojin " ( Attack on Titian ) which is a must to watch!

Yes! I know you want to go directly to the subject and check the swap I am doing but doing a little bit of introduction won't harm anyone;)

So here is Kyojin fully stock the day I got it  :

This is how it all started ...

I had the same car but was on Automatic transmission and decided to move on with Drifting and I did not want to get another cheap car and build it up because like I can say you will be connected to your car so decided to sell my automatic Blue GT86 and get a Red Manual GT86

This is my Old Toyota GT86

Will talk about the build up in the next section and see the parts which i bought to build the car
